Some Christian communities believe that dating is meant only for adults who have intentions of getting married. They believe that teenage dating is scandalous because teenagers are still in their early years of development and are not ready to get married, so there is no point in dating. Thus it would be scandalous for teenagers to be dating.

When it comes to dating for adults, some Christians are very strict about it, believing adult couples should be accompanied by chaperones and never left alone together.
